As a manifestation of its corporate social responsibility to the community as one of its stakeholders, the Company has conducted a number of initiatives, such as:
- The construction of essential facilities to protect the environment and improve public security by developing wastewater processing and equipment.
- The participation in several community events around the Company’s plants;
- Continuous effort to reduce raw material usage in packaging, seeking innovative means to reduce energy such as electricity and fuel, reducing the use of water in production processes, and also maximizing the use of waste water from production disposal for gardening and other purposes;
- Conducted a program for community empowerment in the form of providing hairdressing trainings, with the expectation that the participants will be skilled to work in the beauty and personal care industry.
During Ramadhan month, Akasha International beauty care brand Makarizo along with Rebonders Community held joint social activities in Semarang, Yogyakarta and Solo. Rebonders Community is a community formed and initiated by our hair straightening brand, Makarizo Rebonding System. Not every children have the privilege and opportunity to go to hair salons and receive professional treatment. Therefore Makarizo and Rebonders Community invited local hairdressers from each city to actively participate in mass hair cutting event for children at orphanages. Donation was also given to the orphanages during this warm event.
Management and employees of Akasha International were hand in hand helping the survivors of natural disaster through Indonesian Red Cross Organization (PMI). Donation was collected to help the survivors of flood, eruption of Mount Sinabung and Mount Kelud earlier this year.
When Typhoon Haiyan hit South East Asia, Akasha International’s management and employees teamed up to give a helping hand to the devastated area in the Philippines. Typhoon Haiyan, one of the most powerful tropical storms on record struck the country in early November 2013. Donation was channeled to help the recovery of local community.
